Hypertufa Classes

Welcome to our 2013 schedule of Hypertufa classes. We anticipate another fun year! Please note that Hypertufa I and Hypertufa II are sometimes offered on the same day. We did this because many of our students come a distance. You may sign up for one or both. If you choose to attend both please bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the gardens.

Hypertufa I 

Trough Workshops 

Ø       The troughs are made of a special concrete mixture that makes them lighter weight, more natural looking and able to winter outside.

Ø       Everyone will learn the theory and practical tips of trough making and will then construct a trough of their own.

Ø       The cost of the workshop is $15.

Ø      Advance registration is required.

Note: We have scheduled both Hypertufa I and Hypertufa II on Saturday, June 8th, Monday, July 15 and Saturday, September 7th. You may take a single class or both classes. You may bring a lunch and eat between sessions.

Hypertufa II      

Advanced Uses—A Demonstration                    

Ø       This demonstration is designed for people who have had experience with hypertufa. 

Ø       It will demonstrate the intricacies of making  hypertufa spheres, greenmen (faces), potheads, leaves, mushrooms, staddle stones, etc. 

Ø       Also discussed will be the different mix designs used, water/cement ratio, pigments and textures.

Ø       The cost of the workshop is $10.

Ø       Advance registration is required.

Ø       Because of time constraints, this is a demonstration and not a hands on session.

 Hypertufa Face Workshop

Ø       Demonstration and guidance in making your hypertufa face to take home.  You should have some experience with hypertufa.

Ø      Your imagination is the limit!

Ø       Can be a traditional greenman, a caricature or anything else you can dream up.

Ø       You must bring a sturdy piece of plywood to transport it home or you have the option of leaving it at the nursery on the plywood to dry for a few days to set.

Ø     The cost of the workshop is $20.

Ø     The class is limited to 15 people.
