Latin Name:

Echinacea purpurea 'Bright Star'

Common Name:
Purple Coneflower

Description:
Perennial Flower ~ Sun to Part Shade ~ 3' ~ blooms summer through fall ~ pinkish- lavender daisy with swept back petals and a copper coned center ~ free flowering ~ ATTRACTS BUTTERFLIES ~ deer resistant ~ likes moisture ~ a native plant

Optimal Care:
Plants bloom very long without deadheading.  Deadheading will make the plant look cleaner, but then you loose the natural birdfeeder that the seed heads become.  The goldfinch feed heavily on the seeds in September and October.  We cut to the ground when the birds are no longer feeding on them, although it may be done anytime in spring or fall.
