Garden Talks

We are often asked to speak at garden clubs and various other organizations.  We appreciate this opportunity to spread the word about the joys of gardening!  We feel that we have a lot of information to share and welcome meeting people interested in gardening.

Most of the photos used in our presentations have been taken here at Point Phillip Perennials. The remainder have been taken as we visit gardens.

The topics that we are now presenting include:

Bringing Scotland Home: A tour through gardens of Scotland to see which of their beautiful plants grow well here.  This is a result of a 2 week trip to Scotland.

Gardens of Southwest England: Showcases gardens and plants seen on a two week trip to England.

Perennials through the Seasons:  An overview of the plants blooming at Point Phillip from early spring through late fall.  The talk includes special characteristics and required growing conditions.

Planting Native Nooks:  In this talk we have designed eight small gardens using native plants.  Each of the eight design discussions includes the special characteristics and required growing conditions.  A handout of the eight gardens is included.

Right Plant, Right Place: This talk addresses the subject of matching plants to their environment - especially the amount of moisture and sunlight available.

Seed Propagation:  This presentation addresses growing plants from seed.

Shrubs to Enhance your Perennial Garden:  An overview of shrubs and small trees that we use in our gardens at Point Phillip. The talk includes special characteristics and required growing conditions.

Super Hardy Plants for the Poconos:  Discusses plants that thrive in a colder climate.

Fees:  If we are speaking within a 20 mile radius of the nursery there is no fee.  If we travel beyond that, the fee depends on the distance traveled.

Booking a Talk:  Either call or email Kay at 610-837-6038 or johns@ppperennials.com
