Plant Seminars
Pruning Seminar Get on the cutting edge this April with a short course on pruning. Do you have a fear of pruning, not knowing when to prune or how much to remove? Rick Ray will answer these questions and talk about tools and technique. The principles of pruning will be discussed and demonstrated. Rick is a retired professor of landscape horticulture from Delaware Valley College currently teaching at The Arboretum of the Barnes Foundation.
Propagation Seminar Everyone who gardens has the opportunity to share plants with friends. Learn many simple methods of propagation ~ seed, division and cuttings (root, leaf and stem). This is a 1 to 1 1/2 hr. talk.
Perennial Plant Combinations for Shady Areas Nothing is more inviting than a garden nestled in a shady nook. Careful plant selection is required to have an attractive shade garden. Come and see many different combinations of beautiful plants that will add interest to your shady areas. This is about an hour talk followed by a tour to see discussed plants in the garden setting.
Super Plants for Troughs Careful plant selection is essential for beautiful trough plantings that thrive. Troughs can be planted for any location, but thought must be given to the requirements of the plants selected. Good combinations for various sites will be demonstrated. Proper planting of a trough will also be demonstrated.
Plants with Multi-Season Interest I am sure that we all enjoy watching our gardens as their beauty unfolds through out the seasons. Careful selection of plants that have more than one season of interest adds tremendously to the beauty of the garden. Considered are flowers, foliage, seed pods, berries, fall color, etc. This is about an hour talk followed by a tour to see discussed plants in the garden setting.
